Learning Stories
LEARNING STORIES:
˜Learning Stories" are narrative assessment tools that are increasingly used in child care settings to focus on dimensions of learning. The stories communicate children's activities and learning with a focus on what children can do and include feelings.
By sharing information in this format it inspires parents to notice, respond and enjoy their childs learning journey. It involves families meaningfully in the child care program and emphasizes what their child can do supporting their enjoyment of the here and now. It focuses parents attention on the ˜big picture" in regards to their childs development.
Within the TtLG program Learning Stories communicate to the parent, attachment and exploration concepts specifically related to their child in the child care setting with a particular focus on where the struggle is, in the parent / child relationship. This activity assists in the development of strong partnerships between the primary care giver at child care and the parent and is another complimentary medium which supports the exploration of specific attachment relationship defenses.
